The healthcare sector in the UK is currently facing some of their biggest challenges in the journey towards sustainability. That's why the team here at Medexs is dedicated to providing innovative products and services that not only meet the highest standards of performance but also contribute to the overarching goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions within the healthcare sector and NHS.

Our Commitment to sustainability

Our commitment to environmental responsibility and a sustainable approach is deeply rooted in our core business decisions. This includes our offices and manufacturing facilities which are located at Bullhouse Mill on the edge of the Peak District. Our facilities are part of a shared workspace made up of carbon neutral offices, industrial units and hybrid workspace. The complex is served by renewable energy supplied by solar PV on the roof spaces, wind turbines in the adjoining meadows and hydroelectric generation on the River Don, which flows through the site. Winter heating is provided by geothermal heat pumps and a biomass boiler. With an energy performance certificate of A+ which means ‘carbon negative,’ the complex was the first ever UK participant in the Renewable Heat Incentive - the first of its kind in the world.

Beyond our office and manufacturing area, a ‘target zero’ initiative is underway across the entire complex to encourage the reduction and elimination of all waste from the businesses on the site. All paper, card and plastics are sorted, baled and recycled and any metal waste directly from Medexs’ manufacturing activities is sorted and recycled too.

When it comes to our ventilation solutions, we have developed a range of products and systems over the years, which are designed specifically to help hospitals and healthcare facilities reduce their carbon footprint and work towards their decarbonisation targets.
